Aurora State Airport Master Planning Advisory Committee Meeting

Calendar Date:
Tuesday, November 16, 2021 - 3:00pm to 5:00pm

The Oregon Department of Aviation (ODA)’s process to develop a master plan for the Aurora State Airport starts with an online meeting of the master plan Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 16, 3-5 pm., via Zoom.

City Councilor Charlotte Lehan and Community Development Director Chris Neamtzu represent the City of Wilsonville on the PAC. The meeting provides an opportunity for the PAC, community, neighbors, and other project stakeholders to learn about the project to develop a 20-year plan for the airport.

ODA states that “There will be time in the agenda for spoken public comments. Due to the interest in the project, we don’t anticipate being able to hear from everyone who wishes to speak; however, all written comments collected before or during the meeting will be provided to the PAC members and included in the meeting summary.”

City officials have expressed concern that the ODA is attempting to circumvent the public master-plan process by showcasing a plan to spend $33 million to $38 million dollars in taxpayer funds to subsidize the airport’s expansion and a runway extension without first conducting the master-plan process. ODA has also indicated a desire to hire more state workers to provide additional services to private-sector interests at the airport.
