Bulky Waste Day to Take Place on Oct. 5
September 5, 2024 — The City and Republic Services are hosting the annual fall Bulky Waste Day collection on Saturday, Oct. 5, 9 am -1 pm, at Republic Services' (10295 SW Ridder Rd.) in Wilsonville.
Bulky Waste Day is held twice each year for Wilsonville residents to dispose of large or unusual items that cannot be picked up curbside. Proof of Wilsonville residence is required to participate.
There is no charge to dispose of bulky waste. Instead, the City asks participants to donate (cash, check or Venmo) to Wilsonville Community Sharing, which provides critical social services assistance to local families in need. Donations are collected on site.
Upon arrival, vehicles are directed first to the donations area, then to the scales to be weighed, and then to disposal bays. Participants should only bring items that can be removed from vehicles without staff assistance.
Bulky Waste Day accepts many items otherwise hard to dispose of, including dishwashers, televisions, refrigerators, computers, monitors, stoves, dryers, water heaters, couches, mattresses, scrap metal, tables and chairs, and clean, untreated wood. All fuel and oils must be emptied from lawn-mowers and other gas-powered equipment.
The program does not accept construction debris of any type, propane bottles or canisters, paint, batteries, solvents, thinners, household garbage, car tires, or yard debris.
Arrival before 9 am does not result in early offloading, and may adversely impact Ridder Rd. traffic.
Rotary Club Volunteers to Provide Bulky Waste Pickup
The City is partnering with the Rotary Club of Wilsonville to offer pickup of bulky waste items for a limited number older adults and other Wilsonville residents unable to transport waste to Republic Services. This service, limited to 25-30 requests on first-come, first-served basis, is intended only for those who would otherwise be unable to participate.
- 10/4 note: requests are at capacity
A Disposal Double-Header
As previously announced, Oct. 5 is also the date of the City’s annual Shred Day, a collaboration with Shred Northwest to allow residents and small business operators to safely dispose of sensitive paper documents.
The City’s annual paper-shredding event takes place from 9 am to 2 pm at the City Hall parking lot (29799 SW Town Center Loop E.) Participants in this event are also encouraged to make on-site donations (cash, check or Venmo) to Wilsonville Community Sharing in lieu of a drop fee.
