Candidates May Now File to Run in 2024 General Election
June 10, 2024— Three seats on Wilsonville’s five-member City Council will be contested during the general election to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024. The current terms of Mayor Julie Fitzgerald, City Council President Kristin Akervall, and Councilor Joann Linville expire on Dec. 31, 2024.
All Wilsonville City Council positions are non-partisan and at large. Elected members serve four-year terms. To qualify as a candidate, an individual must be a registered voter who has lived within Wilsonville city limits for at least 12 months prior to Election Day.
Materials outlining the filing process are available at ci.wilsonville.or.us/elections. Once pre-authorized by the City Recorder’s office, candidates must gather at least 20 valid signatures from registered voters within Wilsonville city limits, and may need to submit a contribution and expenditure report to the Oregon Secretary of State.
The deadline for candidates to file with the City is Aug. 20. This deadline ensures the City Recorder has sufficient time to verify signatures and to allow candidates to correct missing information or obtain additional signatures before the State of Oregon’s Aug. 27 filing deadline.
For additional details on the process of filing, all prospective candidates are strongly encouraged to contact the City Recorder, Kimberly Veliz, at 503-570-1506 or at cityrecorder@ci.wilsonville.or.us.
