City Holds Open House for Proposed Roadway
The City of Wilsonville is holding an open house on the proposed Boones Ferry Road to Brown Road connector roadway on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 5:00–6:30 p.m., at Wilsonville City Hall, 29799 SW Town Center Loop East.
The open house is focused on presenting all of the information collected and produced to date to help determine a preferred alignment for a new east-west corridor connection at either 5th Street or Bailey Street. This connector link between Boones Ferry Road in Old Town to Brown Road in West Wilsonville is part of long-standing plans to increase connectivity between neighborhoods and business as the community grows and develops, as well as providing access and utility service to undeveloped properties in the area. The study also recognizes the need to maintain existing freight access to industrial firms in the area, as well as to create a safe travel route for all modes of transportation by extending bicycle and pedestrian connections in this area. Once construction is completed (anticipated to be 2019), this connector will help alleviate motor-vehicle congestion on Wilsonville Road between Boones Ferry Road and Brown Road, improve pedestrian and bicyclist routes, and minimize environmental impacts while supporting the local economy and businesses by filling a gap within the roadway network.
