Discard Bulky Waste, Hazardous Waste at Two May Events
April 1, 2024 — The City of Wilsonville and Republic Services are hosting a Bulky Waste Day event on Saturday, May 11, 9 am-1 pm, at Republic Services (10295 SW Ridder Rd.) in Wilsonville.
Twice annually, Bulky Waste Day provides an opportunity for Wilsonville residents to dispose of large or unusual items that cannot be picked up curbside. Proof of Wilsonville residence is required.
In lieu of charging a drop-off fee, the City asks participants to make cash/check donations to Wilsonville Community Sharing, which operates the local food bank and provides critical assistance to local families in need. Donations may to be dropped upon entry.
Once weighed, all vehicles are guided to disposal bays for unloading. Participants in Bulky Waste Day should only bring items that can be removed from vehicles without staff assistance.
Bulky Waste Day accepts many hard to dispose items, including dishwashers, televisions, refrigerators, computers, monitors, stoves, dryers, water heaters, couches, mattresses, scrap metal, tables and chairs, and clean, untreated wood. All fuel must be emptied from lawn-mowers and other gas-powered equipment.
The program does not accept construction debris of any type, propane bottles or canisters, paint, batteries, solvents, thinners, household garbage, car tires, or yard debris.
For more information on Bulky Waste Day, contact Matt Baker, City Public Works Supervisor, at mbaker@ci.wilsonville.or.us, 503-570-1548.
Household Hazardous Waste Drop on May 18
Metro regional government hosts household hazardous waste drops at communities throughout the Portland-metro area. This year, Wilsonville’s annual collection takes place on Saturday, May 18, from 9 am to 2 pm, at the Wilsonville Transit Center (9699 SW Barber St.).
This event is for residential customers only. A small portion of the residential monthly garbage bill funds hazardous waste collection events. For information on what materials are accepted, and how they should be prepared, visit Metro’s website.
