September 20, 2018 — In partnership with Metro and Republic Services, the City of Wilsonville is sponsoring a new, fall-season Bulky Waste Day on Saturday, Oct. 27, 9 am–1 pm, at Republic Services, 10295 SW Ridder Road in Wilsonville.

This now twice-yearly opportunity, which also occurs in May of each year, is provided for Wilsonville residents only; all participants must provide proof of residence. There is no charge, though organizers request that participants donate hygiene items – including toilet paper, soap, shampoo, laundry soap, deodorant – that help Wilsonville Community Sharing’s Food Bank provide assistance to local families in need.

Bulky Waste Day gives residents the opportunity to drop-off large, bulky items that do not fit into standard-sized garbage cans. Accepted items include dishwashers, televisions, refrigerators, computers, monitors, stoves, dryers, water heaters, couches, mattresses, scrap metal, tables and chairs, and clean, untreated wood.

The program does not accept construction debris of any type, propane bottles or canisters, paint, batteries, solvents, thinners, household garbage or car tires.

In July, the City and Republic Services entered a new franchise agreement for garbage and recycling services. At the request of community members, this agreement includes two Bulky Waste Day events each year.
