Parks & Recreation Survey Results to Be Presented on August 2

The City of Wilsonville Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a public meeting on Wednesday, August 2, 6:00 p.m., at City Hall, 29799 SW Town Center Loop East, to review the findings from a recent Parks and Recreation Master Plan survey. The survey sought to gather feedback from community members regarding preferences for future City investments in recreational programs, services and parks facilities in Wilsonville.

In May a statistically-valid questionnaire was mailed to a random sample of 3,500 households in Wilsonville that was followed in June with a similar online survey. The survey asked a variety of questions to assess community preferences for the types of parks, facilities, recreation programs and services desired by local residents. The survey results are being used to determine community values, satisfaction levels, needs and priorities for the City’s long-term planning efforts to be included in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

To help develop the plan the City hired GreenPlay, LLC, a national firm based in Colorado with extensive experience across the U.S. facilitating, researching and developing similar parks and recreation master plans. The firm worked with RRC Associates to complete the surveys.

The 12-month planning process seeks to compare current parks and recreation facilities, programs and services with the community’s future needs and desires. The plan seeks to recommend potential changes and/or enhancements to parks facilities and recreational programs for City Council consideration early next year.

Parks and Recreation Director Mike McCarty states, “We are inviting the community to come and hear the results of the surveys and to provide feedback on the findings. The survey results are being used to help guide and prioritize recommendations to be included in the plan.”

At the upcoming meeting the consultants are also planning to provide a timeline and information about the Boones Ferry Park Master Plan project that kicks off at meeting on Tuesday, September 5, 6:00 p.m. at Boones Ferry Park, 31240 SW Boones Ferry Road.
