Wilsonville Hires Jordan Vance as City’s New Economic Development Manager
The City of Wilsonville has hired Jordan Vance to serve as Economic Development Manager responsible for overseeing the City's economic-development activities, including business outreach, retention/expansion and recruitment. In this position Vance is also responsible for initiatives and partnerships that enhance local and regional economic-development relationships and position Wilsonville as a location of choice for quality, sustainable business investment.
City Manager Bryan Cosgrove states, “We are excited to have Jordan join our staff to lead the City’s economic development and urban renewal programs. Jordan brings a wealth of private-sector and nonprofit professional experience working for a wide variety of small, medium and large businesses across many different sectors.”
In addition, Vance also serves as the City’s Urban Renewal Manager, where he is responsible for overseeing Urban Renewal efforts and projects for the City, including the West Side Urban Renewal District, Year 2000 Urban Renewal District, the Tax Increment Finance (TIF) Zone Program and the formation and implementation of the voter-supported Coffee Creek Urban Renewal District.
Vance said, “I look forward to meeting with local employers and area business associations to learn about their issues and how the City can work to improve our economic climate in a sustainable fashion.”
Since graduating in 2007 from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations, Vance most recently worked for American Express OPEN in New York City, where he was responsible for the company’s “Shop Small” program and “Small Business Saturday” campaign that supports and promotes growth and development of small businesses throughout the United States.
Prior to working for American Express OPEN, Vance served as the Marketing and Events Manager for Accion U.S. Network – a New York City based nonprofit micro- and small-business lending network that provides business financing and education to small business owners throughout the United States. In addition, Vance has experience in emerging technologies and mobile payments, and taught English as a Second Language in Seoul, South Korea.
In his free time Vance enjoys being outdoors, running, hiking and cycling.
