Wilsonville Releases 2017 Annual Water Quality Report

The City of Wilsonville has published the “2017 Annual Water Quality Report,” which documents results of the City’s 2016 water-quality monitoring and testing. This report lists the regulated contaminants that may be detected in treated water and the sample results from Wilsonville’s water system.

The report shows that in every category of chemical measurement, including lead, that the City’s water quality surpasses all federal and state standards for drinking water. Distribution of the Annual Water Quality Report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), is required of all community water systems under the 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act amendments by July 1 of each year.

Of 86 regulated drinking water contaminants, only 11 were detected at least once in Wilsonville’s water. In all cases, the actual amount present was well below the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), which is the highest level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water, according to the EPA.

Delora Kerber, the City’s Public Works Director, said that, “For the 15th year in a row since the treatment plant went online, the City’s water quality continues to meet and exceed all regulatory drinking water standards. The results published in this report continue to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality drinking water to our consumers.”

“The Water Quality Report includes results from lead testing during 2015, when samples were taken from residential taps inside older, potentially higher-risk homes in Wilsonville. The testing found that no corrective action was necessary and that none of the drinking water in the homes exceeded the EPA’s Action Level (AL) of 0.015 milligrams per liter. Four of the 33 homes tested had very low levels of lead with a 90th percentile value of 0.002 milligrams per liter, which is 7 ½ times lower than the EPA’s Action Level.

Copies of the “2017 Annual Water Quality Report” are available at City Hall, the Library, online at the City’s website, https://www.ci.wilsonville.or.us/WaterQualityReport and will be mailed upon request.
