About Economic Development
Welcome! Our department leads the City of Wilsonville’s efforts in business recruitment and retention, business expansion, and urban renewal. Our aim is to create an economic environment that enhances the economic viability and livability of Wilsonville.
To more effectively support and recruit business, Wilsonville updated the it’s Economic Opportunity Analysis in 2012, and convened an Economic Development Advisory Committee to develop the City’s first Economic Development Strategic Plan. This Plan was adopted by the city council in August of 2012. This strategic planning effort was followed by convening a Task Force on Business Attributes and Incentives in November of 2012, and the development of recommendations that led to the City’s first formal policies on business incentives. These recommendations resulted in the establishment of six Tax Increment Finance Zones to provide partial property tax rebates to qualifying businesses investing in specific properties.
In August 2013 the City’s Economic Development Department was established to implement the Economic Development Strategic Plan and the Tax Increment Finance Zones.
Our mission is to:
- Facilitate job creation by attracting new businesses.
- Facilitate job creation by assisting existing businesses with growth and expansion opportunities and connections to needed resources.
- Facilitate redevelopment opportunities and the development of infrastructure needed to leverage private investment through the strategic use of Tax Increment Financing (Urban Renewal).
- Raise awareness of our existing business services and be a visible presence in our local business community.
