Chief of Police - Rob Wurpes
In October 2017, members of the Wilsonville City Council welcomed new Police Chief Rob Wurpes, a Captain with the Clackamas County Sheriff ’s Office (CCSO) that the City contracts with for law-enforcement services. Chief Wurpes has 23 years of experience with CCSO as Deputy, Field Training Officer, Marine Patrol Officer, Search and Rescue diver a public information officer, watch commander, lieutenant with the Tri-Met police task force, and chief for the former City of Damascus. He is also an Army combat veteran and EMT.
I am fortunate to have been granted the opportunity to serve the community of Wilsonville. It is a very special place which has grown, and continues to grow into a beautiful city – aptly nick-named the tree city. To match its beauty, Wilsonville also has a rich history with ties to the grandson of Daniel Boone settling here the mid 1800’s.
As an agency we greatly value our citizens’ continued support for the men and women of the Wilsonville Police Department. We understand earning and keeping the public’s trust requires that we always act honorably in accordance with our oath, and be accountable for our decisions and actions. We commit to these principles and adhere to our core values: Honesty, Courage, and Justice.
Our mission is to preserve life, uphold the law, prevent crime, hold offenders accountable, and promote safety while collaborating with our community members and leadership to identify crime problems and craft innovative, adaptable solutions. Our public safety team consists of 20 sworn officers and 2 professional staff member. This includes 10 patrol officers, one School Resource Officer (SRO), two traffic officers, two detectives, three sergeants, one CSO, and one Behavioral Health clinician. To further serve you, our partnership with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office provides access to a wide variety of professional support services.
As your Chief of Police, I will continue to listen to the needs of the community, monitor trends, provide leadership, and maintain partnerships with the public and other public safety organizations.
