December 3, 2018 — On Monday, Dec. 3, the Wilsonville City Council passed a motion approving a $3.6 million industrial site-development loan application to the state economic-development agency Business Oregon. Proceeds from the loan, to be repaid overtime by urban renewal funds generated by new development, would fund improvements to Garden Acres Road that serves the new Coffee Creek Industrial Area.
Council executed a $215,000 professional services agreement with AKS Engineering and Forestry to develop stormwater drainage infrastructure to mitigate seasonal flooding and support future development within both the Coffee Creek Industrial Area and the Basalt Creek Concept Area.
December 5, 2018 – The City of Wilsonville is now accepting project nominations for the Wilsonville-Metro Community Enhancement Program, which offers local stakeholders an opportunity to seek funding for projects beneficial to the community.
Eligible projects can improve the appearance or environmental quality of the community, increase reuse and recycling opportunities or improve recreational areas and programs.
Projects may be nominated until Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at the City’s website: www.ci.wilsonville.or.us/CEP. Anyone may nominate a project for consideration, including local businesses or other organizations submitting a sponsored-project nomination.

November 29, 2018 — A special meeting of the Wilsonville City Council held on Nov. 27 to discuss the proposed expansion of the Aurora State Airport drew a standing-room audience of 200 attendees. A total of 53 citizens testified during the three-hour-long public forum, including area residents, business managers and elected officials who presented a wide range of divergent views on the proposed $37 million grant application to by the Oregon Department of Aviation (ODA) to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to extend the airport runway from 5,000 to 6,000 feet.
November 28, 2018 – The French Prairie Bridge Task Force, a 21-member group representing a wide array of stakeholder values and interests, is meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 5, to review and evaluate design concepts for the proposed French Prairie Bike-Ped-Emergency Bridge over the Willamette River.
The meeting, 6-9 pm, takes place at Wilsonville City Hall, 29799 SW Town Center Loop E.
Project managers are providing the Task Force with an overview of five bridge types under consideration, including input gathered from the Technical Advisory Committee and public open house events. The Task Force is charged with recommending two bridge designs for further consideration.
November 28, 2018 — The City of Wilsonville welcomes Zoe Monahan as the new Assistant to the City Manager. Monahan, whose background includes planning, economic development, city administration and public information, has more than 10 years of local government experience.
Most recently, Monahan served as the City Manager of Dayton, Ore. Previously, she worked as Management Analyst (Tualatin, Ore.), Community Development Director (Jerome, Idaho) and Assistant Planner (Sherwood, Ore.).
“I have a passion for strong communities, and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to serve a vibrant city that I already know and love,” said Monahan, a Wilsonville resident. “I am looking forward to leading the Citizens Academy and collaborating on many other community improvement projects.”

November 26, 2018 – The City of Wilsonville bids a fond farewell this week to retiring Community Development Director, Nancy Kraushaar, who has provided oversight of the City’s building, engineering, natural resources, planning and urban renewal divisions since 2012.
“I’ll always value working with our talented staff and forward-thinking elected officials,” Kraushaar said. “I’ve enjoyed playing a role in implementing the great planning the City has done for decades, including new parks and neighborhoods in Villebois and safe, improved connections throughout the city for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.”
November 21, 2018 - On Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, the Wilsonville City Council approved the purchase of two 35-foot electric buses and two 60-kilowatt charging stations for the City’s transit agency, South Metro Area Regional Transit (SMART). In 2017, SMART was awarded $1.45 million in Federal Transit Administration funds in a highly competitive grant application for the acquisition of low- or no-emission buses and support infrastructure. The FTA grant funds 85% of the electric buses cost and 90% of the charging equipment, with the City’s match of $226,266. Council also authorized a supplemental budget adjustment to expedite the purchase of the vehicles, which are scheduled to arrive by summer of 2019. In addition to lower greenhouse gas emissions and exhaust pollution, SMART estimates that the new electric buses can reduce $30,000-$40,000 annually in fuel and maintenance costs compared to standard diesel buses.
November 16, 2018 — The Wilsonville City Council plans to hold a public hearing on Nov. 27, 7 pm, regarding the proposed major expansion of the Aurora State Airport that is scheduled for approval during a Dec. 12-14 state legislative Joint Emergency Board meeting. Wilsonville City Hall is located at 29799 SW Town Center Loop E.
The purpose of this public hearing is to consider public testimony on the proposed runway extension project at the Aurora State Airport by the Oregon Department of Aviation (ODA) that is to be funded by a $37 million grant request to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
November 8, 2018 — Wilsonville Parks and Recreation is coordinating the City’s fifth annual toy drive for the benefit of in-need residents in Wilsonville and throughout Clackamas County.
Until December 14, residents may purchase and drop off new, unwrapped toys. Donations are being collected and distributed by Toy & Joy/Compassion in Action of Clackamas County to provide holiday joy for area families in need.
November 5, 2018 — The City of Wilsonville and Republic Services host Wilsonville Leaf Drop-Off Day on Saturday, Nov. 17, 9 am-2 pm, at the City Hall parking lot, 29799 SW Town Center Loop E.
The annual event is a component of Republic Services’ franchise agreement for solid-waste collection and disposal services with the City. No fee is charged. Instead, the City suggests that participants bring a cash or check donation to support Wilsonville Community Sharing, which operates the community food bank and helps provide social services for residents in need.
“Leaf Drop-Off Day provides a service to homeowners, and helps a trusted non-profit partner provide critical services for community members in need,” City Manager Bryan Cosgrove said. “The event also provides an incentive for people to remove leaves from roadways, which helps reduce flooding and keeps City roads safe.”
The Wilsonville Public Library will hold an Election Night Results Party on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, from 6-9 pm. Please join us as we watch this year's midterm election results.

Nov. 1, 2018 — The 2018 General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Completed ballots may be deposited at Wilsonville’s only ballot drop box, located in the circular driveway near the main entrance to City Hall, 29799 SW Town Center Loop East. The drop box is available to registered voters until 8 pm on Election Day.

October 19, 2018 — The City of Wilsonville and the Clackamas County Arts Alliance are hosting an Arts, Heritage & Culture Community Meeting on Monday, Oct. 29, 6-9 pm, at the Wilsonville Public Library, 8200 SW Wilsonville Road. The City and Arts Alliance, which are collaborating to a develop a public investment strategy for arts, heritage and culture, seek to hear from community stakeholders with an interest in advancing arts and cultural programming for Wilsonville.
October 5, 2018 — Curious about what the future Wilsonville Town Center may look like once the community-driven vision begins to takes shape?
On Thursday, Oct. 11, 4-5:30 pm, the City is hosting a special Economic Summit Panel at Wilsonville’s Regal Cinemas, 29300 SW Town Center Loop W., to discuss the project with Town Center planners and a panel of development experts.
Panelists will highlight key findings from the Town Center Plan's Development Feasibility Analysis and discuss what it means for future development options and potential economic implementation strategies in Town Center.

October 4, 2018 — At the October 1, 2018, Wilsonville City Council meeting, the Council adopted, on second reading, changes to Wilsonville Code Chapter 10, establishing comprehensive Transit Rider Rules for patrons of South Metro Area Regional Transit (SMART). The list articulates a code of conduct, establishing clear, reasonable and consistent guidelines to allow passengers and SMART employees a safer, more enjoyable use of Wilsonville’s regional transit system and to provide City staff clarity in the enforcement of transit regulations when necessary.
On first reading at a public hearing, Council approved an amendment to the 2017 Transit Master Plan. The new Programs Enhancement Strategy is a comprehensive, prioritized list of desired transit service improvements that would be funded with new revenues provided by the passage Oregon House Bill 2017 that implemented a statewide employee-paid payroll tax.
October 2, 2018 — A new survey indicates that Wilsonville residents have a strong affinity for their community and a great appreciation for many of the city’s core amenities and services.
A summary of the statistically valid National Citizen Survey™ (NCS) – which surveyed 568 Wilsonville residents this summer – was presented to the Wilsonville City Council at the October 1 meeting.
Among those surveyed, 94% rated their quality of life in Wilsonville as ‘excellent’ or ‘good’ and 97% rated the city positively as a place to raise children. Wilsonville’s library (96%), parks (94%), schools (93%) and transit services (83%) all had positive ratings exceeding the benchmark rating for more than 500 communities participating in the NCS.

September 27, 2018 — The City of Wilsonville is hosting an open house to review initial design concepts for the proposed French Prairie ‘Bike-Ped-Emergency’ Bridge across the Willamette River. This public meeting is being held on Thursday, Oct. 18, 5-7 pm, at Wilsonville City Hall, 29799 SW Town Center Loop E.
Project leaders are unveiling five different bridge-type designs for public consideration; each design accommodates daily use by cyclists and pedestrians as well as special use by emergency services vehicles as needed.
September 26, 2018 — The City of Wilsonville is currently seeking applicants to fill 14 open positions on City boards and commissions. Volunteer terms begin in 2019 for those candidates appointed by Mayor Tim Knapp and approved by the City Council.
Volunteer service on a City board improves the community and aides the City’s ability to serve residents, businesses and visitors.
“We are seeking community members who are passionate about retaining the high quality of life we currently enjoy in Wilsonville,” Knapp said.
