Banned Books Week logo

Each September, the American Library Association releases its list of the top ten challenged or banned books in our country. These bans and challenges (a failed attempt at a ban) target not only literature, but other media as well — affecting DVDs, databases, displays, and art exhibits.

This four-week course, examines the historical origins of censorship and banning and then explores some of the books and films currently on the ALA’s Top Ten list.
